An early pickup at your Sharm hotel gets you to Sharm airport for a flight of about 1.5 hours to Cairo. In Cairo and Giza you see the Grand Egyptian Museum, or the old Egyptian Museum at Tahrir Square if you pick that option at booking, then the pyramids, Panorama Point and the Great Sphinx.
The day is long, 16 to 18 hours door to door, and the listing says the Cairo visa stamp is needed and can be bought at Sharm airport for $38 per person. Free cancellation applies until 24 hours before the start, and you can reserve now and pay later. Groups in French, Italian, Spanish, Russian or German need a minimum of six people.

How the Day Runs
The listing's own itinerary starts with a van to Sharm airport and a plane to Cairo, then the museum, lunch, the plateau and the flight back. Set lengths exist only for the flight legs and the plateau stop, and timings may shift.
Stop by Stop
Pickup at your Sharm hotel comes first, then a van transfer to Sharm airport. The flight to Cairo takes about 1.5 hours and your representative meets you outside arrivals with a Book Tour Egypt sign. The Giza plateau guided visit takes 2.5 hours.
The museum stop has no fixed length, and the whole Cairo schedule is flexible. If the evening flight is late, there is time for Khan el-Khalili. The return flight is another 1.5 hours, then a car takes you back to your hotel.
Because the museum visit has no stated duration, compare it with Grand Egyptian Museum and Pyramids Tour, which states 2 hours inside the museum on a 7 to 8-hour day.
No clock times are given, and flight times and timings at attractions can shift.

What the Price Covers
This listing bundles almost everything into the $240: flight, guide, transport, lunch, water and all the main entry fees. The extras are small in number but real, and the visa stamp is the one you must plan for.
Included in the $240
The price includes hotel pickup and drop-off in Sharm, the return flight to Cairo, an Egyptologist guide, lunch at a restaurant overlooking the pyramids, transfers in air-conditioned vehicles, 3 bottles of mineral water per person in the vehicle, and the entrance fees for the Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx and either the GEM or the old Egyptian Museum, depending on the option you choose during booking. The museum ticket sits in the price, as the site's ticket-in-price section shows.
Not Included
The not-included list is short but matters. The Cairo visa stamp is required and the listing says it costs $38 per person at Sharm airport. Drinks at lunch, a camel ride, a Nile boat trip and entry into the burial chambers of Khufu or Khafre are all extra.
Tips are not mentioned, so carry cash for them. If you would rather pay less and skip the flight and the plateau, Grand Egyptian Museum Tickets covers the museum alone for $35 with no guide or transport.

Book It If, Skip It If
Book it if
- you are staying in Sharm El Sheikh and want to fly up, with the pyramids, Sphinx and museum tickets inside the $240 price
- you would rather fly about 1.5 hours than sit hours on a coach from the Red Sea
- you want free cancellation up to 24 hours before the start on a day rated 4.9 from 640 reviews
Skip it if
- a 16 to 18 hour shared day is too long for you, the Grand Egyptian Museum from Hurghada is the bus alternative
- you use a wheelchair or have mobility impairments, the listing states the tour is not suitable
- you are unwilling to buy the required Cairo visa stamp, $38 per person at Sharm airport per the listing
Who This Tour Rules Out
A 16 to 18-hour flight day with a 4.9 rating suits some travellers and rules others out. Match yourself against the limits below before booking, and take one of the shorter listings if any line applies to you.
Wheelchair Users and Anyone with Mobility Limits
The listing states plainly that the tour is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility impairments. A Cairo-based private day may suit better, so ask about access on the Private Pyramids and Museum Day or the museum-only Private Grand Egyptian Museum Tour before booking.
Travellers Who Want a Long, Unhurried Museum Visit
The museum stop here sits inside a packed 16 to 18-hour day and the listing does not state its length. The museum's own group guided tour runs about 2 hours, and the galleries open 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on regular days. If the museum is your priority, the Private Grand Egyptian Museum Tour gives it 3 to 5 hours.
See how long to spend at the museum before choosing.
People Who Hate Early Starts and Shared Groups
Pickup is early morning at your Sharm hotel and the group is shared. French, Italian, Spanish, Russian and German need a minimum of 6 people, and if that minimum is not reached you pay an extra fee for a private guide. If a private day matters more than the flight, book a Cairo-based private listing instead and browse the rest of the Grand Egyptian Museum tour options.
Anyone Without a Cairo Visa Stamp or with Young Children
The listing says the Cairo visa is required and costs $38 per person at Sharm airport, so factor it into the real cost. Children under 6 enter the museum free on the official rules, but the flight-day format and its 16 to 18 hours make it a demanding day for small children. Families based nearer Hurghada can compare the Grand Egyptian Museum from Hurghada bus day, and day trips from Hurghada and Sharm sets out the trade-offs.

Honest Pros and Cons
This is one flight-day listing among several ways to see the museum, and it has clear strengths and clear costs.
What we genuinely like
- Every major ticket is in the $240: the pyramids, the Sphinx and the museum you choose
- A flight of about 1.5 hours beats a road day from the Red Sea resorts
- Free cancellation until 24 hours before the start, with reserve now and pay later
- Rates 4.9 from 640 reviews on GetYourGuide
- Lunch at a restaurant overlooking the pyramids is included, with 3 bottles of water per person in the vehicle
The honest downsides
- 16 to 18 hours from pickup to drop-off, one of the longest days on this site
- The Cairo visa stamp is extra, $38 per person at Sharm airport per the listing
- Shared group, and languages other than English need a minimum of 6 people or an extra guide fee
- Not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility impairments
- Flights can be delayed or rescheduled, so the museum slot can shrink
- Drinks, camel ride, Nile boat, burial chambers and tips are all outside the price
Who it's NOT for: Not for wheelchair users, not for anyone who cannot face a 16 to 18-hour shared day, and not for travellers unwilling to buy the Cairo visa stamp.
Museum Rules and What to Bring
The museum's own rules decide what you carry and what you leave at the hotel. They come from the official ticketing site, and they apply to this flight day like any other visit.
Opening Hours
The complex opens 8:30 AM every day of the week, and no closed day is listed on the official hours. Galleries open at 9:00 AM. Saturday and Wednesday are the late days, with galleries open until 9:00 PM, which matters if your flight day lands on one of them.
Last entry is one hour before the galleries close.
| Days | Complex | Galleries |
|---|---|---|
| Sunday, Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday | 8:30 AM to 7:00 PM | 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM |
| Saturday and Wednesday | 8:30 AM to 10:00 PM | 9:00 AM to 9:00 PM |
Bags, Photos and Food
Bags larger than 40 x 40 cm must go to the cloakroom, and luggage and large bags are not allowed on the tour, so travel light. Flash photography, tripods, selfie sticks, drones and live streaming are not permitted, and photography is banned in designated Tutankhamun areas. No outside food or drink.
On this tour that means a small day bag and a phone or camera without accessories. More detail sits in the site's rules and what to bring section.
What to Bring
Bring your passport or ID card, comfortable shoes, sunscreen and the visa if required, and give your real names exactly as in your passports for the flight. Add water for the plateau beyond the 3 bottles provided, cash for tips and extras such as the camel ride, and a sun hat. The Giza plateau is exposed, and the guided visit there lasts 2.5 hours.
Official tickets carry the visitor's name, as tickets and booking rules explains.

What Travelers Said
Was a great day out! Managed to see all the sights and Mustafa and Alex were both very friendly and knowledgable. Good way to see the pyramids on a day trip from sharm, however be aware it is a very long day!
Mr Falcon our guide was fantastic. Very knowledgeable and made the trip really enjoyable. He was fun and made it a great experience all round.
Trip was very educational with A LOT to take in during the day. Definitely a very very long day but the pyramids are more than worth it! Our guide Mostafa Salah was excellent giving us information from the minute we arrived in Cairo. Mostafa was fantastic at taking pictures for us throughout the trip. Be careful of scammers as they are everywhere, unfortunately some people within my group got caught out the minute we arrived at the pyramids. Definitely worth the extra money to fly as it is already a long day without hours of sitting on a coach!
Great trip, well organised, great historical knowledge and happy to answer any questions. Reem was our guide and she was amazing 10/10
Questions About the Flight Day from Sharm
How far are the pyramids from Sharm El Sheikh?
By road it is a very long desert drive, which is why this listing flies instead. The flight from Sharm to Cairo takes about 1.5 hours each way, and the museum stands on the Giza plateau at the edge of the pyramids area. Compare the two approaches in the site's catalog of Grand Egyptian Museum tours.
How long does it take to see the Grand Egyptian Museum?
This tour gives the museum no fixed duration inside a flexible Cairo schedule. For scale, the museum's own group guided tour lasts about 2 hours, and the galleries open 9:00 AM to 6:00 PM on regular days. If you want control over the time, Grand Egyptian Museum Tickets give you the whole day self-guided.
Is the Grand Egyptian Museum worth it on a day trip from Sharm?
On this listing it comes bundled with the pyramids, lunch, the flight and an Egyptologist for $240 per person, with a 4.9 rating from 640 reviews. It is worth it if you accept the 16 to 18-hour day and the $38 visa stamp. If that sounds heavy, the bus alternative from Hurghada, Grand Egyptian Museum from Hurghada, or a Cairo-based day may fit better.
Is the museum ticket included in the $240?
Yes. The entrance fees for the Pyramids of Giza, the Great Sphinx and either the GEM or the old Egyptian Museum, chosen at booking, are all in the price. The site's ticket-in-price section shows which other listings do the same.
Do I need a visa for this tour and what does it cost?
The listing says the Cairo visa is required and can be bought at Sharm airport for $38 per person, either directly on arrival or arranged by the operator the same day. Bring your passport, and make sure the stamp is the right one for Cairo, as the listing warns.
What happens if the flight is delayed or cancelled?
The listing states that flight times depend on availability, logistics and weather, and can be delayed or rescheduled. You can cancel free of charge up to 24 hours before the start for a full refund. If the museum slot gets squeezed, Grand Egyptian Museum and Pyramids Tour is a Cairo-based day with no flight to worry about.
Is this tour suitable for wheelchair users?
No. The listing says it is not suitable for wheelchair users or people with mobility impairments, A private day such as the Private Pyramids and Museum Day is the alternative to ask about.
